Today when the students entered the classroom they were all made to stand in a line and enter the voting booths that we made for them. They looked so cute stepping into the little cardboard boxes. Each was given a ballot and a black crayon.Once they made their decision we gave them an I VOTED sticker.
Vanilla was the victor it scored 15 points while chocolate scored 11. We will celebrate victory on Friday with a vanilla ice cream party! With Sprinkles of course!

What an excellent way to teach them about voting.
In my daughters class they voted on chocolate candies. Krackle bars won. I'm still scratching my head over that one.
That's such a great idea Becky!

I LOVE your neat idea's!!! You are such a wonderful teacher, giving these kids the very best start on their educational journey.

Thank you so much for the award-I always love to see what you've written...so funny, so witty-Thanks for the honor to join you!
(I am still trying to figure out who left my blog-I know it is crazy, but can't I have a reason??)
What a fun way to get them voting!!!! But I'd have to go with Chocolate....see - everything I vote for lost yesterday - boo!!!
Be sure to take pictures of the winner of the election - vanilla ice cream!
Your such a fun and creative teacher!!
I love the voting! Yay for Vanilla that is my fave too!
that is so cute. what a great way to teach the young kids. I wish Hayden's school would have done that.
you are such a fun teacher.. and how adorable is your class! I used to want to be a kindergartin teacher!
How fun to get the little ones involved in the process.
You are the best teacher ever. I am not kidding, I wish my kids could be in your class. You do amazing things with them.. You should be so proud....
Definitely with sprinkles! haha! You are such an awesome teacher!! Congrats on the award well deserved! :)
How cute! So, are you going to run for president next?
What a cute idea for you're class! So much fun.
Clifford for president... hmmmm, not a bad idea! :)
And you are a fabulous teacher!
Way to go vanilla! I totally would have voted for chocolate though! :D
What a fun idea!!! And how educational too - you are like the best teacher ever. (o:
I love me some vanilla - as long as I have a ton of FUDGE to drizzle all over it!
How cute is that waht a great way to "study" the whole voting process with the little ones!
I want to try to get some of those books. Although I do not have children, I love children books and like to have some good ones to use when little ones do come visit me. I think including you Pre-K students was such a great idea. I'm shocked the little kids didn't pick the chocolate ice cream! That seems to be a favorite with kids!!
Have you heard of the alphabet books? "A is for America." "P is for Pilgrim."
I LOVE that voting idea - you're so creative!
You're just swimming in awards - I gave you one on my blog, too :)
Such a cute picture of all those little kids!
Too cute! Your a fun teacher! You Rock girl!
Congrats on the award and Congrats on a job well done with the children. I'm glad to see teachers explaining the importance at such a young age. Enjoy your ice cream party
What a great education of the process. Very cool:-)
what a great idea! i'm sure they can't wait for the ice cream party~
i would have done a write in and voted for strawberry.
I always think it is a great idea to get the kids involved and excited with the whole voting process!!
Very cute. My daughter's pre-k class voted juice (apple, grape, punch). She voted punch, she found out today that grape won. It was a nice opportunity to explain democracy (as much as you can with a 4 year old.
But while in line to vote with me she asked what kind of juice I would be voting for. *L* Too cute.
You are the best teacher! I love your voting idea!
Congrats on the award!
What a great idea to introduce them to voting and what exactly was going on yesterday.
So fun! Great idea to teach them voting on their own level. Me, I would have written in mint chocolate chip!
Love the voting idea with your class! How cute! I am sure they LOVED it! We also read "My Teacher for President"! Even 4th graders loved it!!
You are the best teacher EVER. Seriously!! Thanks for the award!! ;)
That's where I would have created a dictatorship and brought in the chocolate!!! What a great learning experience... :)
That is so cute. And I'll bet the kids had a good time too! GB!
haha, check out my blog today :-D
That is a great "voting" memory for your students. Hopefully, they will not be disappointed when they go to vote for real when they grow up, only to discover that there is no vanilla ice cream with sprinkles involved. Sigh...but in perfect world...That would make the long wait in line a lot more fun, amen?;)
Congratulations on your award! Woo Hoo!:)
Now, on to more important business...I finished Twilight...and have already started New Moon. I am officially loving them! Thanks to you, I now want all of my family to be quiet and let me read. LOL!;) I'm just teasing, sort of.;)
Have a great weekend!
Big hugs,
Amy:)
I wish my beans had you for a teacher!!! my middle bean was 'almost' suspended for political beliefs this week!
stopping by to say HI from secret santa central....
I love all the books for voting that your shared with your class!
You are a dream teacher! How much fun to get to vote on ice cream and then get to eat it the next day! Also, you are teaching them while doing such FUN things! You make me want to be a teacher! I hope you are fabulous!
So I even looked up some of those books btw . . . had to get one.
You are one of those teachers that as a parent, I (and I'm sure a few more would join my cause) dream of for when your child goes off to school . . .
You are such a great teacher! I love Clifford and Sesame Street books!
What a darling way to vote..and then to celebrate...!! I LOVE icecream.
BTW that might have been me not following and then following. I accidentally put anonymous follow.. from my profile section. I can ONLY see that I am following you nobody else...even the one I follow. How do I get more??tehe!!
