6 styrofoam circles - 2 in each ascending size: 8" 6" and 4"
1 Small styrofoam dome shaped topper
1 Bag Of Blow Pops or suckers
Approx 5 bags of minature candybars.. (depends on size of candy)
Directions: Glue together each set of foam circles to make one thick circle in each size. Glue each circle on top of each other. Make sure you get as close to middle as possible. Use low temp glue gun and start gluing the miniature candy bars all around. I used gum to hide any foam showing between each layer. I topped it with blow pops stuck into the dome shaped styrofoam. I finished with adding curly ribbon around the topper to make sure no foam shows.
Okay- While in the middle of doing this post.. the picture uploader totally did some crazy stuff. The above photo is a bag of candy. But since you can't really tell you are just going to have to take my word for it. It is a mixture of minature size candy bars. It is the left over candy and it has been wrapped up in this wal-mart sack shoved to the very back of the cupboard. Waiting until another cake needs to be made.
There is no Hobby Lobby, Micheals, or any craft store in my town. Yes, it is very sad. The above picture shows pieces of syrofoam that I found at wal-mart. They didn't have the pieces that I mentioned in the directions..so I had to make due. The biggest white part (for the bottom) is actually from the dollar tree. It is a styrofoam tortilla warmer. Hey whatever works, right?
This is my favorite crafting tool. I have an obsession really. I probably have 8 glue guns. These are low temp glue guns. These are the foam pieces stacked upon one another. I lay out my candy and think of a pattern that I would like to use. I also make sure that I will have enough of a certain candy to make it all the way around. I just use a small dab of low temp glue on the back of the candy and stick it to the cake form. The tempature is so low it doesn't melt the candy or tear through the covering. It's really quite simple. I haven't had one turn out the same but all of them have been just as cute. Everyone loves them. It is something fun and different.. and that is why I like them.. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am sorry if things are not clear.. I haven't ever really explained how to do a craft.. all written out like this.. I am also sorry that the pictures are crazy. I have deleted them and uploaded them several times.. and I keep getting these crazy multiple pictures ugh.
And here is how it turns out.. I added ribbon around the candy and put starburst on it just to add some frill. It's really just up to the individual. So there you go! If any of you decide to make a candy cake please post pictures so that I can see how your cakes turn out...
