Photo Story Friday

To wrap up our unit of fire safety, my class and I walked down to the volunteer fire department. It was a really nice day for a walk. The fire department is only 5 blocks from the school. When arriving at the fire department, we took some class pictures. Don't we all look so cute in our new class shirts? (Okay, I know you guys are sick of hearing about them..) Oh, and if you are wondering..every child got a shirt..Some just didn't wear theirs for some reason...

The firefighter, talked about fire safety. Talked about the truck and the clothes they wear when fighting fires. Then they took every student for a ride around the town. They got to honk the horn and turn on the sirens. The kids were so very impressed.
After riding around the town, we came back to the school to grab some lunch and some much needed playing time.. Then the fire truck came back to our school and parked in front of our building so that I could take some more pictures..

These kiddos just thought they were so cool. Some of them were really posing. I got some great pictures that I know the parents are going to love...

Look what caught my eye.. I am thinking this was a major expensive fire truck.. Who knew they had Benz- firetrucks. My kiddos were riding in style..
For some reason every child left my classroom wanting to be a firefighter! I wonder why.. These pictures were so funny to take.. The hat and jacket were so heavy.. The kids were having a hard time holding their necks up...
I think my kids have a pretty good grasp on fire safety. They learned to get out and stay out. When there is smoke, get low and go. Stop, Drop, and Roll. Firefighters are our friends. Even though they have a mask on they are there to help us. Call 911. They all know the number but the majority of them haven't mastered knowing the number 9. Umm, this might be a problem..lol.

Please pray for me today. It is the big Halloween Party and my aid took off. Ugh, Our first party of the year and I am flying solo.

I am making a DVD right now to showcase the Fire Department Field Trip. The parents that come to the party will love seeing all the honorary firefighters.

This is my little spin on the "Top 10 List" It was supossed to be witty - but I hope you guys can opt for pretty...(okay, okay good looking) My creative juices just weren't flowing.. I have been trying to come up with some funny top 10 list.. since the assignment was given.. but I couldn't ever get past one..lol. For example:
Top 10 Reasons Not To Take Life Seriously
1. No one gets out alive.
Um, see. That's not funny. Sheesh.

The Finished Product

In yesterdays post, I showed our class shirt design to see it up close.. Scroll down. Well today, was the big print day. My kids were so excited! How cool is it to make your very own shirt? In a four year old's eyes - It is a big deal! I was so ready to document our exciting project and after just a few pictures.. My camera battery died. Ugh. How sad is that? Oh, well I did manage to get a couple of pictures to share with you all. I think they turned out really well. I love them.
The printing process was really neat. Each kid got to print their own shirt. This little one was having a hard time reaching! But she managed. She is so cute. Her sweet smile is almost as big as she is.. See what I mean? She is such sweet and sassy little one. She is always saying something to crack us up.This is the best picture I got of the finished product. As soon as I clicked the picture my battery died. I love the red on the gray. I am very pleased with it! The kids are too. I posted the first print on the wall. They stood around it all throughout the day looking for themselves and their friends. One said, Teacher-This is way easier then Where's Waldo.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-Overheard in my classroom-
Boy Child- Teacher, I just went to the bathroom.
Me- Good, did you wash your hands?
Another Child- Did you go #1 or #2
Boy Child- #4 I think. It was a lot.
Me- Trying to not to laugh (failing miserably).

T-Shirt Tuesday..

This is the design for our class t-shirt. Just how cute can a t-shirt get? Each student was asked to draw themselves - Don't you just love their drawings? I chose the flag background since it is an election year. The colors of the shirt will be grey with red ink. We are printing them today @ 9:45. I will take some pictures so you guys can see this cool process. Each kid gets to print their very own shirt! They are very excited!

We also ordered out basketball shirts today. I am excited to see how they turn out. I love the saying on the back:

If you wanna play with us...
You gotta be tough!
If you wanna keep up with us....
You gotta be fast!
If you wanna beat us....
You gotta be kidding!

How fun is that? That only thing I am sad about is they are going to be printed on white shirts.. Ugh. Our school colors are Red & White. We usually do red one year, grey the next, then white.. and repeat again and again.. I don't like to look up in the crowd and see all white shirts.. I say we go red every year.. ugh.As I have stated before, Our school mascot is a Demon. Lovely, I know.. but I am used to it and I actually like it.. It fits...lol. Anyway, so I have about 34 of these Devil Rubber Duckies and I need help coming up with an idea... Basketball season is about to start and I want to give each player a little rubber ducky.. Help me come up with some fun wording..pertaining to winning and or basketball..

My class is making these sucker ghost to present to the ball team on Friday. This cute little card that I found online will be attached to it. I personalized the cards with our school name! My kiddo's love giving the basketball teams treats.. They think it is so cool that the big kids talk to them..

Have I mentioned lately how crazy I get about BASKETBALL SEASON? Just 7 more days until our first game! Whoo Hoo!

Not Me Monday!

Whoo Hoo! It's that time again. To join in the fun or to read more.. Click on over to McMama's blog!

I did not take one of my students on the field trip who didn't have a signed permission slip. I did not realize it halfway to our destination and almost hyperventilate the rest of the way there. I did tell on myself immediately upon returning to the school. I did not breathe a sigh of relief when nothing ever came of it.

I did not notice that my favorite pair of black pants had a hole in the bottom. I did not put on black panties and wear them anyway. I also did not make a mental note to always wear black panties when wearing these pants instead of throwing them away.

I did not just second guess myself by thinking, "should I really write about the color of my panties in my blog."

I did not laugh loudly at "Beer for My Horses". I would never go to a movie that required no thinking at all. I did not actually enjoy this simple movie.

I did not finish Breaking Dawn. I am not so very sad that it is over. I did not honestly think the other day, "I wonder what Edward and Bella are doing?"

I did not make my BFF a scrabble tile necklace that says, Hello My Name is Edward Cullen's Girlfriend. (Hello, we are in our 30's.)

I am not upset at my aid for taking off this coming Friday. The day of my Halloween party at school. 28 kids. Candy Galore. Sugary Snacks. No nap. Why would I be upset?

I did not just make myself stop doing not Me's.... because my blogging friends - I could go on and on..forever. Believe me.

OVERHEARD IN MY CLASSROOM

Child- (Raising her dress above her head). Look Teacher! Shorts under my dress.
Me: That is good but you still need to leave your dress down.
Another Child: My Mom says little girls should always wear shorts under our dresses so boys won't see our panties.
Me: Yes, I think wearing shorts under your dress is a good idea.
Child with shorts on under her dress: I have on shorts, but NO panties!
Me: Why? (I don't know why I asked this)
Child with shorts: My moms lazy.

GASp Prices...

Ugh! I hate when I look down and I see the GAS light blinking at me. I used to never let it get to this point. I know I know, I have heard it all before.. Letting your gas get this low is bad for your fuel pump. To be honest with you I just hate that it has been costing me nearly $50 bucks to fill up my Element. I also know that many of you wish that it only cost you $50 bucks to fill up... My job is 15 minutes down the highway. I have to fill up once a week. With the gas prices here lately my gas budget has went from $120 a month to $200 plus. Folks, that is $80 more dollars then I want to spend..That is $80 dollars that could be put in a purse fund, a perfume fund, a something sparkly for me fund. But No!! Now it is all burnt up driving down the highway....

But wait! What is this? What is happening. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? Is this a cruel joke? When I last went to the gas station.. I couldn't believe my eyes. Gas had went down tremendously. It was like I had ran on to a big sale. I was actually excited to pump gas to see how much I would save... I know, I am a nerd. But I think like this. Seriously.
Gas was only $2.34 a gallon. I was crazy excited! Yeah, so not much has happened this week. Squeal in delight with me. I took out my cell phone, not heeding the warnings of talking on the cell when pumping gas. Which, if it is so important not to do that then why is the warning written in such tiny print? Anyway, back to my previous story...I took these pictures with my phone. That explains the poor quality.. I took them and actually sent them to people. Apparently, it is not this cheap everywhere..
After standing there at the pump. Taking pictures and texting. The pump clicked and I looked up to see that I filled my tank up and it was under $30 bucks. It stopped before this but I pumped it even more. I tried to stop at $28.50 but it went to .52 so I had to pump it up to the next increment of 25..okay, so I am a bit OCD but that is also an entirely different post. Now that I am saving money at the gas pump. I can blow it somewhere else! Whoo Hoo!

Fanpire.

I didn't get around to all of my commenting today. I was a bad bloggy buddy and to top that off I am really not putting a lot of effort into this post. Why? Might you ask...Breaking Dawn! That is the reason.. Every spare minute I got I found myself trying to read a page or two.. but honestly.. I really have mixed emotions about this.. I wanna read it because I wanna know how she wraps it all up... but then I don't want it to be over either. How strange am I? Pretty darn strange, In my title I called myself a Fanpire. What is up with that? Well folks, thats all you get from me today.. I am off to read my book.. I know, Horrible. Right?Oh yeah, say a little pray for me. Today is field trip day. Ugh. Me, my aid, and 28 pre-k kiddo's leaving the safety of our school...Pray Hard...lol.

Cute Kids & Bloggy Love

How can you not love your job when you get to listen to things like this all day long. Does he not have the cutest voice ever? We learn a nursery rhyme every month. This month we learned Peter Peter. This little guy loves it so much. He is constantly repeating it... I recorded it and burned it to a DVD so that his family could always remember how cute he was in Pre-K.

We also sing silly songs all the time. When we were learning about the letter T our silly song was Tiny Tim. I taught it the traditional way. This little guy said, Teacher? Can we rock it out? I said go for it.. and this is what we got. This is a much calmer version of what we got the first time he sang it rocker style. He kind of got tired of doing it after I had him do it for everyone we passed in the hall..

Nicole left me this fun award. I was so excited to receive it.

Not Me Monday!

It's not that time again. Don't click here to check out more!

On the way to a family party I did not tell my Mother all about the Twilight Series. I did not go on and on about the love story between these two fictional characters. She did not say explain it to me in detail because I wanna know about it but I don't want to take the time to read it. I did not die of embarrassment when my Mom did not announce that her daughter was in love with a fictional vampire. Good thing that did not happen to me. Sheesh.

When my parents were on vacation this past week. I did not call them daily and start the conversation with, "So what have ya'll bought me?" Instead of asking them how they were.. Of course I am way more considerate then that.. and I am 33 by the way, to old for souvenirs.

While at our local movie theater I did not blurt out, "That Blows" really loud and then turn around to one of the high school students standing there waving. "Hi, Ms. Teacher"! Ugh. Good thing that wasn't me huh? I am always a shining example. Yep.

I did not spit out my drink all over a 4 year old when she told me not to worry. She did not say, "Teacher, don't worry, He didn't kiss me on the lips, He kissed my boobies."

After the above incident didn't take place, I did not call my class into a group huddle to have a talk about personal boundaries for the 3rd time this year.

Sadly, our town does not have a Hobby Lobby. So my friends and I did not drive all the way to Muskogee (the closest town with one) to look for a certain craft supply that I needed. After not finding them, I did not carry them all over the store. Stop to look at something sparkly. Lay them down. Check out and forget them at the store. No way. Something like that would never happen to me. Ugh.

I did not catch a lady in Joann's Fabric rolling her eyes at me because I couldn't remember what I was looking for was called. I did not have to leave the store to keep from saying something. I was not tempted to go back in take care of the rudeness and then pray about it later. Nope something like this would never ever cross my mind.

I did not eat four popcorn balls (homemade, not store bought), a smores, and two hot dogs over this weekend. I am on a major diet and all that above mentioned things would totally be off limits.

I am totally not dreading weigh in this evening. Nope, because I followed my diet to a T. Um, speaking of T. I did not have two glasses of Sweet Tea today. Nope never. Only water for me.

I did not talk to a guy at Wal-Mart Sunday afternoon for nearly 5 minutes and walk away wondering who He was and how he knew me. I am still not wondering.

I did not cry when I seen a dead opossum laying on the side of the road this week with it's live baby trying to snuggle with it. It did not totally break my heart.

I was not distracted this morning during Worship because a lady had a COACH purse that was to die for. I did not want to take a picture of it so I could remember exactly what it looked like. I was not disappointed that my camera phone does not have a flash.

I did not waste my entire fall break doing absolutely nothing and I did not enjoy every single minute of it..

Oh, yeah. And since we are being so totally honest. I am so prepared for my class tomorrow. I have my lesson plans down to a tee.. My arts and craft project is already laid out. My papers are ran off...

That sounded like surrender, like giving up. But who was Caleb fooling? Marriage wasn't a game, some contest in which all the spoils went to the victor. This was supposed to be a joint venture, right? A partnership. And his partner wanted nothing to do with him.

Fireproof, written by Eric Wilson. My friend bought this book for me during my birthday week. The following day we went to the movies to see it. I loved it. I am just now reading the book, I am sure it is spectacular as well.

The Questions.

1. Do you have the same friends since childhood? Yes! I have known the majority of my closest friends since I was in 4th grade. I make new friends where ever I go but my core group of friends I have know forever and I find comfort in that. They are so near and dear to my heart. My family that I have chosen for myself.

2. What do you value most about your friends. I value their opinions even if they are different from mine. I value their faith in God. I value their families as if they were my own. I value the trust that we have with each other and I value their loyalty to me.

3. Are your friends sounding boards. Yes. When I have something going on.. I may ponder on it for a day or two but when I decide to let it all out, my girls are their waiting and willing to me hash it out. To laugh with me, cry with me or pray with me. God has truly blessed me with a great group of friends. Thank you GOD.

4. What is your favorite activity to share with friends. Road Trips for sure. My friends and I go on vacation together. Road trips. Shopping Trips. Church Trips. There is nothing better than the open road, the windows rolled down ( I hate the windows rolled down, it just looked good lol), and a good friend beside you (getting you lost).
