Photo Story Friday

To wrap up our unit of fire safety, my class and I walked down to the volunteer fire department. It was a really nice day for a walk. The fire department is only 5 blocks from the school. When arriving at the fire department, we took some class pictures. Don't we all look so cute in our new class shirts? (Okay, I know you guys are sick of hearing about them..) Oh, and if you are wondering..every child got a shirt..Some just didn't wear theirs for some reason...

The firefighter, talked about fire safety. Talked about the truck and the clothes they wear when fighting fires. Then they took every student for a ride around the town. They got to honk the horn and turn on the sirens. The kids were so very impressed.
After riding around the town, we came back to the school to grab some lunch and some much needed playing time.. Then the fire truck came back to our school and parked in front of our building so that I could take some more pictures..

These kiddos just thought they were so cool. Some of them were really posing. I got some great pictures that I know the parents are going to love...

Look what caught my eye.. I am thinking this was a major expensive fire truck.. Who knew they had Benz- firetrucks. My kiddos were riding in style..
For some reason every child left my classroom wanting to be a firefighter! I wonder why.. These pictures were so funny to take.. The hat and jacket were so heavy.. The kids were having a hard time holding their necks up...
I think my kids have a pretty good grasp on fire safety. They learned to get out and stay out. When there is smoke, get low and go. Stop, Drop, and Roll. Firefighters are our friends. Even though they have a mask on they are there to help us. Call 911. They all know the number but the majority of them haven't mastered knowing the number 9. Umm, this might be a problem..lol.

Please pray for me today. It is the big Halloween Party and my aid took off. Ugh, Our first party of the year and I am flying solo.

I am making a DVD right now to showcase the Fire Department Field Trip. The parents that come to the party will love seeing all the honorary firefighters.

I love the picture of the little boy in the fireman's coat and hat...It looks as if the hat and coat are eating him. He's adorable.

I took my boys on this same type of field trip when they were little, and they loved it!

And it never hurts my feelings to see a group of fireman all gathered together...Especially when they are say.. all grocery shopping in their blue t-shirts and blue pants.......sigh...

Where was I? ;)

Good luck today with your Halloween party! I am sure you will do fine, and just remember, anything that may go "wrong" or "off course" just makes for great blog material.;)

Big hugs to you!
Amy:)

P.S. My boys are pressing me to finish the book today...because they both want to read it. So, if you need me, I will be curled up on the couch with Edward and Bella.;)

HOW FUN! :) My Lizzie would have loved to do that! Every time she sees or hears a firetruck she gets so excited & says "Toot, toot" (her version of a siren) haha

Good luck with the party but I am sure it will be lots of fun!!!! Just eat as much candy as them so you are hyper too ;)

Happy Halloween!

Ok, I will never get tired of telling you what an amazing teacher you are!!! You are spoiling those kids to death (not a bad thing at all) and definitely spoiling those parents with all these pictures and dvd's and stuff.... You better be getting some great thankyou presents from them or I'll be mad!!!
And I pitty the teacher they all get next year. They won't be able to live up to your awesomeness (is that a word??? lol)

Cute kiddos - My mom is a Pre-K teacher and you guys are always doing similar activities at the same time. Yesterday she took her kids on a field trip. I'm glad you always take pictures to document it!

WOW. You are one dedicated teacher...how lucky those kids and parents are!!!

And good luck with your party (maybe by now you've already had it?)!! My kids have the day off today so the teachers can avoid the sugar high from their carnival last night...brilliant!!

I feel your pain of being alone for a Halloween party. Just think of me after school with all the sugar rushed kids riding the bus home. :D

Have a great Halloween.

I loved your photostory. The kiddos will always remember this special time you arranged for them.

Did you make up the quote at the end? I LOVE it, and would like to quote you!

That reminds me of the "stop drop and roll" song that my Lorelai learned in preschool. It was so cute that we had her sing it for EVERYBODY!

It looks like you all had a lot of fun. My daughter just LOVED when the firetrucks visited her school this year. :) And I just know those parents are just going to LOVE those pictures!

The pic of the little boy in the uniform...so cute! My little boy came home after fire safety week with a new appreciation of firefighters! :-) He talked about it for a looonnnggg time.

Joy said...

look how cute they are on the fire truck, I know they loved it.

Don't you hate when some of the kids don't wear the shirts they are suppose to. We made tie dyed shirts for Wyatt's class for the field trip yesteday and sure enough 2 of the kids did not wear it! WTH why can the parent not do one simple thing like put them in the correct shirt.

I went with his class (well actually 7 first grade classes) to the pumpkin patch yesterday for their first field trip of the year.

Aww the boy in the fireman outfit looks soo cute!!

Your kids parents are so lucky you take so many cute pictures of their kids.

My girls always went to the fire station when they were in preschool. It was right around the corner and they always looked forward to it.
